Annual Angel Tree

Our Annual Angel Tree will be located in the Narthex from November 27 – December 11.  Please stop by and choose an Angel (or several) off the tree to help make the holidays brighter for children and youth at Hearts and Homes for Youth (HHY). ).  HHY is a non-profit that provides care for youth who are in need.  Some of the youths are expectant teens or new mothers; and some are in foster care, group homes, or emergency shelters. They are all receiving assistance and support through the HHY program.

On each Angel you will find details (such as first name, gender, age, and clothing/shoe sizes) and a wish list indicating preferences for gifts. Please DO NOT feel obligated to fulfill all the wishes on the list – do what is practical for you.  After you select an Angel, please place your gift(s) in a gift bag, UNWRAPPED, with the Angel attached and place the gift under the Angel tree.  For gift cards, place them in an UNSEALED envelope with the Angel attached and give it to Ms. Marie.  All gifts are due bySUNDAY, DECEMBER 11, 2022. Gifts can be bought on Sundays or delivered to the church office during business hours. Thank you so much for participating.  Your gifts will bring great joy to the youth at HHY as they may be the only gifts the youth receive this year! COVID-19 Update (August 22nd, 2022)

As many of you know by now, COVID transmission has reached the second highest level of concern in Montgomery County. Your pastors, staff, and lay leadership remain committed to diligently protecting the safety and health of the most vulnerable members of our community, especially children, their families and those who have yet to receive their COVID-19 vaccination. We are also committed to creating space, virtually and safely in-person, through which we can continue to connect and reconnect with God and one another.

Here are some of the ways we–and you–can continue to respond as a movement of Christ’s love in this season:

  • Please remember that masks are required during worship and other indoor activities at the church. Our worship leaders will remain masked unless actively speaking at a microphone. Should you join us for worship in-person at 11AM, our ushers will have masks available for you.
  • Please observe physical distancing of 6′ or more between family units in the sanctuary, and distancing when gathering in congregate settings in the building.
  • Please respect the wishes of others regarding their physical space. Some people are wary of hugs and handshakes during this time, or even elbow-bumps. We encourage you to ask others about their comfort level and to share your own as you are comfortable.
  • As of today, staff, key lay leaders and volunteers–including our choir–will be required to provide proof of vaccination before participating in our worship or food distribution ministries. Our Operations Department is currently tracking the vaccinations of those required members.

If you feel sick or test positive, please worship with us in our virtual service. Observe the CDC guidelines for COVID quarantine and isolation.

We encourage you to remain up-to-date about County-wide response efforts by using the Montgomery County COVID-19 portal. If you or someone you know is experiencing housing insecurity due to COVID-19, we encourage you to use the recently-reopened COVID relief fund for those who need rental assistance or contact one of our pastors for assistance. Finally, if you are able to make a contribution toward our Benevolence Fund, through which we’re able to offer direct assistance to members of our community continuing to face COVID hardship, I encourage you to do so.

For the last 2+ years, our congregation has faithfully worked to remain a movement of Christ’s love, feeding all people–mind, body, and Spirit–so that none go hungry. Together, we will continue to do so, safely and well, as we move into this new season of ministry together.

With Deep Gratitude and Love,

Pastor Will
