Every Friday in June, join us as we show up with other faith communities along 16th St. in DC and MD for the 16th St. Interfaith Vigil against Racism: Black Lives Matter to God and to Us.
We will stand in witness, in prayer, in solidarity, and in protest from 5-6pm. At 5:45 we will hold a time of silence for 8 minutes and 46 seconds in prayer and remembrance of George Floyd and so many others who have experienced the knee of racism on their necks. We will use the intersection of 16th St. and 2nd Ave. as our SSUMC starting place–from there we will spread out in order to keep our witness strong while also keeping folks physically distanced. Please be sure to wear a mask, bring a sign, and be prepared to keep at least 6 feet apart. If standing for an hour is a challenge, please bring a folding chair.
