We are excited to have so many members in their 20s, 30s, and 40s at SSUMC. We try to be responsive in planning events for young adult ministry, and would love to hear what you are interested in! Please contact Jen Kidwell at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have questions about current ministries, or thoughts about new ministries.
Please fill out this survey about your hopes and dreams for young adult ministry in the 2018-2019 year here!
We design these events to appeal to young adults with and without young children. We do barbecues, game nights, crafty brunches, baseball games, interfaith dinners, hikes, movie nights and more! Check back for regular updates about our upcoming monthly events.
Potluck with the pastor! Friday, October 19 at 6pm at Rev. Angela’s house. Stay tuned for a sign up so we don’t all accidentally bring Kale Salad!
Young Adult Small Group
Do you need some time to hang out with peers in your neighborhood? Are you juggling professional life and personal life? Are you missing some time to explore questions of faith and meaning with supportive friends? This group is designed to focus on fellowship and community, with some thoughtful discussion topics provided. There will probably be a book we’re reading or some Scripture you can choose to review ahead of time if desired, but it’s strictly preparation-optional. We recently finished the Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis, and Strength to Love, by Martin Luther King, Jr. For Lent, we talked about how Jesus taught about and modeled prayer, using some audio devotions (find those here). We have met on Friday evenings from 7-9pm in room 151 at the Downtown Campus. We have provided dinner and we meet in a space that’s friendly for kids! We are looking into a different meeting schedule for fall 2018, so contact Jen Kidwell at email@example.com to confirm meeting time, express interest, ask questions, or join the email list.
