We are excited to have so many members in their 20s, 30s, and 40s at SSUMC. We try to be responsive in planning events for young adult ministry, and would love to hear what you are interested in! Please contact Jen Kidwell at [email protected] if you have questions about current ministries, or thoughts about new ministries. For now, we offer:
We design these events to appeal to young adults with and without young children. We do barbecues, game nights, crafty brunches, baseball games, interfaith dinners, hikes, movie nights and more! Check back for regular updates about our upcoming monthly events.

Lenten Bible Study
Come to small group (below) to discuss Jesus’ instructions about and practices of prayer in the gospels. Follow along online with weekly audio devotionals, whether you can come to group or not! Starting the week of February 14 (Ash Wednesday).
Young Adult Small Group
Do you need some time to hang out with peers in your neighborhood? Are you juggling professional life and personal life? Are you missing some time to explore questions of faith and meaning with supportive friends? This group is designed to focus on fellowship and community, with some thoughtful discussion topics provided. There will probably be a book we’re reading or some Scripture you can choose to review ahead of time if desired, but it’s strictly preparation-optional. We recently finished Strength to Love, by Martin Luther King, Jr. For Lent, we’re talking about how Jesus taught about and modeled prayer. Follow along with that study here, or just come and chat with us! We meet on Friday evenings from 7-9pm in room 151 at the Downtown Campus. We provide dinner and we meet in a space that’s friendly for kids! Contact Jen Kidwell at [email protected] to express interest, ask questions, or join the email list.
