Lent for All Creation
The Interfaith Power and Light Lenten Calendar is available! Pick yours up at the church, or download it to your computer or mobile device using this link. It follows the lectionary and is a great way to raise awareness of the connection between creation care and our spiritual practices during this holy season. Integrate short Bible readings with simple challenges and tips involving ecology, climate, and justice. This is a great practice for those who can’t come to a small group during the week!
Celebrate the life and prophetic ministry of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in the 50th year since his assassination. The Jericho Road lenten devotional in based on the speeches from the last 6 years of his life. Download the file here and follow along in this daily practice.
(Dinner and) Discipleship 101
(Mondays February 19-March 19, 5:30-6:30pm in room 151)
Join Jen Kidwell to talk about some Discipleship basics! We’ll use the curriculum Disciple’s Path to help us dig in to devotional practices and the gifts and joys of small groups and Christian community. This is a family friendly space and I’ll be provided a simple meal. Children are welcome (toys provided). Childcare may be available if requested early. Contact Jen Kidwell ([email protected]).
During Lent, we’ll be looking at some of the prayer practices of Jesus and reflecting on our own individual and communal prayer lives. Stay tuned for a short weekly audio devotional on prayer as well, posted here! Contact Jen Kidwell to be added to the email list.
Join this group to discuss biblical perspectives on controversial contemporary issues. We’ll be thinking hard about the authority of scripture and the relationship between church and culture. This study will start before Lent, but Lenten seekers of controversy, community, and cookies are welcome to start the study with us midway through. Contact Jen Kidwell ([email protected]).
Third Grade Learning to Use My Bible Class
Sunday mornings during Sunday School in Room 151 (Starting February 18 – 5 weeks)
This Sunday school class exposes our 3rd graders to the Bible and gets them interested in reading their Bibles. The curriculum uses a step-by-step approach to opening the Bible to kids for their lifelong faith journey. They will learn basic Bible skills with activities that directly coordinate with their Bible. Participants need to bring their Deep Blue Bible to class each week. If you need a Deep Blue Bible, see Ms. Marie.
The Way of the Cross Prayer Stations
Sunday, March 18 (may be available at other times by request)
This prayer practice will be available from 10:30-noon on Sunday March 18 for anyone interested in experiencing this reflective activity. CLUB 45, our program for 4th & 5th grade students, will meet on Sunday, March 11 from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. for an experiential Stations of the Cross. We will walk from Christ’s trial to his crucifixion at Calvary at stations that commemorate various events that took place along the way. At each station, we will read the scriptures, pray the prayers, and contemplate the situation before moving on. Be sure to join us on this Holy walk.
Alternating Tuesdays from 7-8pm in the Blue Room (starting February 20)
Join this group for some Lenten devotions during the season leading to Easter.
